So I was trapped in the Perry Hall area this Sunday and couldn't find anywhere to buy beer to carryout. Anybody know of anywhere to buy beer to go on Sundays in the Perry Hall/Nottingham/Parkville/ areas of the county? Sign me, THIRSTY!

I guess times have really changed. Recall a tiny bar / pkg. goods place on Harford Rd., Parkville that had a 7-day liquor license and where you could even buy bottles of whisky to go on Sundays. And there were LOADS of bars on Belair Rd. from Belair-Edison to Overlea where you could buy 6-packs of brew on Sundays. Don't ever recall blue laws in Balto. city or county that prevented 6-pack sales on Sundays, at least during the 1960s thru mid 70s when I left the zoo to become a ruralist.

Racers' on Harford Rd. has a liquor store attached to it with a nice selection that's open 7 days a week. The bar also offers a nice selection of microbrews for pretty low prices. I'd be a regular if I lived closer.

Thanks for your responses, Gentlemen. I had kinda forgotten about the small liquor store attached to Racer's. Used to go there fairly often for their three for three happy hour (three small craft/import drafts for three dollars, tho' I see prices have gone up since) some years back. I live right off of Belair Rd. near Frankfort Ave., and there are not nearly as many bars (and even fewer restaurants) as there were even 10-15 years ago.

It looks like I'm going to be spending my Sundays in Perry Hall for some time to come, and I won't be able to travel far. Any suggestions for a location North of the beltway somewhere close to the Belair/Harford Rds. corridors? Cold beer is an absolute necessity for hot Summer Sundays in the wilds of the county....

On Belair Rd., about 1/4 - 1/2 mile north of Frankford was a bar that opened 5 or 6 am. On Sunday mornings, I'd pick-up a 6-pack of Country Club malt liquor for the long, thirsty drive over to my future wife's apt. in Gwynn Oak / Woodlawn.
