I love NYC too, mad respect for the town and its people, not the same as Yankee fans. I was there for Cal's last game and it was after 9/11 - the town still in shock, humbled and angry and smelling of destruction. I was there too for another Orioles game, the final game in old Yankee Stadium (there were 9 total Os fans in colors at that one...)

Default None!

Digitally annoying...a troll?!!! Ok! You really want to just cut to the chase and call me the N-word right dogpark?

He has a sense of humor, loves to pull at folks and would probably be great fun to have a beer with (as long as we're eating crabs listening to Frank Zappa I suppose), but is digitally annoying...

Here's the big problem with the Yankees and why there is such love/hate for them: The Yankees are the most American of baseball teams (America's past-time) - they do everything they can to win (high payroll etc) but in leveraging their big money to buy games, are incredibly unsportsmanlike. Where is the egalatarian fairness of the American way in the Yankees? Face it - the Yankees and their fans are smug, whose core value is the almighty dollar. Fitting that they are in NYC with Wall Street, eh? They treat all of baseball like their farm system. Why cultivate and develop talent when you can just buy it? How sporting...

Ok! You can cry and over-intellectualize tell the New York Yankees baseball organization all you want.

Here's a Zep quote for you IH77 - all that glitters is not gold. Enjoy the off season, see you next year!

As a buddy of mine said yesterday (life long Baltimorean) - the Yankees are teh Dallas Cowboys of baseball. Made me laugh!

I've already cut to the chase with you in prior threads. That said, I actually do gain some amusement from some of your posts, but as I have said before - you go over the line at times, far over, and its lame dude. Since this forum is under-moderated, you get away with it.

And here you are again, going far over that line. Instead of rationally and/or humorously discussing baseball and great teams and their fans, you have to go racial and ad-hominom at the same time. You couldn't be more far off base.

Plus, you inserted this line in your quoting of my post:
Ok! You can cry and over-intellectualize tell the New York Yankees baseball organization all you want.
---That's either sloppy or disingenuous. And lame dude!

So this forum is boring, yet you cannot post a reply of sustance? Have to lose it and go off?

Meanwhile, back to baseball:
The O's defense since clinching has me concerned. They really look bad out there with Davis and machado out and Caleb Joseph needs to improve hsi offense and defense, sheesh!

Nonetheless as a longtime Oriole fan (and season ticket holder until my daughter started private school ),

I am glad to be above .500, glad to clinch adn go to the post season.

I was able to see the 2nd home game of 2012's playoff series (against the Yankees); I managed to score a SRO ticket and stood all nine innings in the Flag Court, 3rd back form the rail, shifting to see (and I'm 6'), had only one beer and waited until the last out to go to the restroom, didn't miss anything, it was a fun night.

Precisely. The Yankees and their fans remind me exactly of a pre-school aged toddler who thinks the world revolves around them and is shocked, dismayed, and indignant whenever they don't immediately receive whatever they want. And the sophistication of their arguments and baseball acumen is also about pre-school level. "BUT WE HAVE 27 RINGS. WE'RE THE BESTEST."

No matter how long I may stay in Baltimore, New York will always be my home city and have a special place in my heart. Somehow rooting for the Mets makes me less "New York," according to some people. I wish I was around in the '80s when the Mets were the "cool" team to root for. But, I comfort myself knowing that it will be like that again - very soon.

You're definitely right that they're missing Davis and Machado big time.

Incredibly jealous that you had season tickets. Nothing would make me happier than to go to a baseball game every day. Someday, when I'm not a broke grad student...

That sounds like an incredible night. I've only been to a playoff game once - in 2006 when the Mets made it to the NLCS. They lost (the game and ultimately the series), so it was a rough night, but I would still give anything to experience it again.

SRO may not work for me because I'm vertically challenged (4'11" *sigh*), but I'll take what I can get.

Why we ALL, not just Oreo's fans hate the Yankees:
Because even before (but especially after) Steinbrenner, the Yankees' ownership used the biggest market with the biggest dollars to circumvent normal MLB processes and just bought themselves the best players money could buy. And thus bought pennants and World Series Championships.
The ongoing free agency madness has added more to the problem and has screwed baseball ever since, while making millions/billions for owners, players, sponsors and TV networks all at the expense of the fans.

THIS. This is a huge problem. And why baseball needs a salary cap. It wouldn't fix the problem, but it would certainly help. The contracts these players get now are unreal.

Bingo! We have a winner!

Yes, the money is unreal in MLB.

A nice thing about OPACY is that its not too expensive. I've been to Fenway and the new Yankee Stadium and it is crazy $$$.

A nice thing about OPACY is that you can bring in your own food and non alcoholic beverages (in unopened containers).

I've been to Bowie Baysox games too and it is super family friendly, camped out in the outfield a couple times with my son's Cub Scouts, a blast.

designer_genes - you should get a ticket to one of the playoff games if you get the chance, I'm sure you'd have a great time. I don;t have any lined up yet, but have a friend in the box office and will buy a scalp if necessary.
