We recently moved to the Baltimore area and are looking to move to a better neighborhood. We need to be able to commute to the Westminster/Finksburg area and downtown. We don't want to live in the city and we are looking for the best elementary schools to help decided where to live. We looked in PA and like it, but the commute downtown is a little long.

Where is the best school and family area to live?

Our school systems in Maryland are based on counties. One county=one system. So, this would be hard to measure. Each county has it's own pluses and minuses and each school may be a bit better or worse than one near it. Your best bet is to do visits to schools in areas that you are considering.

Within the county school systems there are feeder systems. Check the high schools with the highest state testing scores and SAT scores and the elementary and middle schools that feed into those high schools are usually pretty good. In Anne Arundel County, look into the Broadneck feeder schools and Severna Park too. Both those high schools have great academics and athletics.

I would suggest looking in Carol County that would be closer for your family.
