Yes, they will be perfect for her 10,000 new residents. They have nothing, so the city can't steal their property from them like they have done to so many others. Besides, you surely didn't think those idiots in city hall were going to convince Marylanders outside Baltimore to move into Baltimore City, did you?

Not sure how I feel about this.. Nothing against accepting refugee for those in need, but can we really handle the influx?

Ok! What if they were 125,000 blue black, heavy melanated Africans from the sub-Saharan/Sudan part of the Continent trying to get into Baltimore, there would be RIOTS in the streets!

Question?

Weren't there a mixture of Cuban criminals/drug dealers amongst good people during the Muriel Boat Lift in 1981?!

Marylanders outside Baltimore... NO.. People outside of Maryland... YES. Most of those 10,000 people would likely have been transplants moving from outside of the state to Baltimore and/or those folks relocating from but still working in DC. There was a rather critical segement ( I believe in City Paper) that was criticizing the whole 10,000 people to the city effort... The gist of it was.. screw 10,000 new residents.. do something for the 620,000 of us that are already HERE... I have to say.. that that statement is quite prophetic....if you think about it.. Sacrifice a segment of the 620k just to recruit 10k? Unless they are all millionaires....its Robbing Peter to pay Paul ....

As far as the Syrians.. I guess I have mixed emotions.. yes.. certainly we all would love to help people escape a war ravaged country.. But to bring them to Baltimore? Supposedly there is a solid support network to help these folks get jobs and what not.. but their socialization will be strictly up to ...well ...society.. which in Baltimore fails on a number of levels. Groups like the Somalis and Hmong have been resettled in places like Minneapolis-St Paul.. and even in those vibrant metros they are having problems...So what can we expect in Baltimore where there are already numerous problems...In those cities they have closed ranks and formed street gangs in an effort to protect themselves (in schools from bullying) and ultimately form some type of communal structure outside of the established channels.

I can only hope that the syrians fair better here in Baltimore.. There is said to be a 90% success rate.. I hope we dont create the 10% that dont make it...

Well **** me running: some of y'all either didn't pay attention in reading class or really are just terrible, horrible people. There goes any benefit of a doubt...lol. You're ******* a brick over 26 (TWENTY-SIX) PEOPLE?! Nothing in that article said that 10,000 Syrians are on Charles Street right now or even will be there in Baltimore in the next 6 months...not even close! You're comparing being gassed with chemical agents and systematically slaughtered in Syria to being in Baltimore City...really?!

If there is a god, surely he will go on and drown us or burn us all up now. LOL! We better hope and pray that what is happening to these Syrians doesn't ever happen to us while we're sitting here on a soapbox talmbout how we can't help, acting like we're the first and the last successful nation in the history of Earth. What the...???

Perspective, please!
