I tried the Rotunda, Waverly, Towson, York Rd. .... nothing. I know they don't want to pilot these in the hood as they'll be swiped, but is there any Giant a Charles Villager like myself could drive to reasonably close to try out this technology? Like Owings/Reistertown or Lutherville?

Ha! Forget about people potentially swiping these handheld scanners, the concern is that people will pretend to scan or even not scan something thus stealing from the store.

Although I have to say, these things are so incredibly convenient. You walk into the store, grab the scanner and a couple of bags then scan and place in bag as you shop. They are great!

The Giant in the York Road Plaza. Don't know if or when you last checked, but the store has had the scanners for at least a month.

I could've sworn I didn't see one at York Rd. I'll have to check again. I ended up going to Dundalk as I had business there anyway and I did try it an it is pretty nice. I did find myself putting things back as the running tally reached my spending budget. A couple of employees did remark on the increase of theft but it would seem that even the increase in theft costs much less than an employee and as such is the way the direction of the industry is moving.

I have been using it since they came out...but they are doing a lot audit randomly initially. I have not any audit since then...i still see people getting audit though...i think they are tracking your total spending and selecting those who will be auditing by certain criteria?
