Bangor Used Subaru (house, buying, school)

moved here from Houston in December, i love Maine glad to be here .
Looking forward to my second winter , i only took out my own mailbox once!
The plow guy has nothing on me , I am looking to buy i used Subaru at the end of this month .
We are looking at Forrestors , are they ok to buy used ? I loved jeeps but you know at around 70,00 your going to buying a tranny , anything you need to know about used Subarus , how are they etc?

I haven't heard anything bad about them, when I was looking for some wheels for the Mrs. I looked at some Subarus, the seemed to carry a premium price for a used car.

Jeep? Tranny? 70,000? Don't tell the wife's Jeep it's supposed to be on its third one already. 250k and still going.

We have a friend who is alive today because she was driving a Subaru Forester. She hit a moose at night, went off the road and hit a boulder about the size of a school bus. The Subaru stopped instantly. She essentially walked away from the wreck. That Subaru was smashed flat forward of the firewall, but the passenger compartment was intact.

A friend stopped at the house tonight. She is on her second Subaru Forester. The first one started using a lot of oil at 350,000 miles so she donated it to the Wounded Warrior Project. If I ever buy another automobile it will be a Subaru Forester.

I actually have two cars to buy , one for my daughter . Is Norm's used cars in Wiscutti, they have about 15 forester listed

I have a Subaru Forester that I just bought used this year. It is a 2004. I highly recommend the vehicles. Yes, they tend to carry more of a price premium, but that is because they have one of the best AWD systems on the market and above average reliability.

ok , question 2, if you have never drove a manual and your 47 , who easy it to learn to drive a manual in a forester ? the manual seem to have more listings and a cheaper price?

Driving a manual shouldn't be hard to learn, if you understand how it works. The Mrs. had to learn suddenly when I broke an ankle at work.

The bigger question is- how are your knees? Only a few years older than you, both my wife and I are having knee problems. If your left knee (clutch leg) goes wonky like mine has done this year, the manual could be a problem.

The 'Join the party" I believe is a reference to a very annoying tv car commercial- where this guys voice cracks


so, you got 3 good years left and wanna drive a standard (im the same age, so I can poke fun at it)

driving a standard isnt hard at all, once you get the "feel" and the motion down, it's easy to ride

dont be nervous and take it slow, practice in a large empty parking lot, once you've mastered the clutch, you are all set

the tough spots, at first, are stopping on a hill at a light, but once you do a couple, you will be fine.


ive had quite a few standards-the last one being a ford focus, that car went 230,000 miles and it was a 2001
just didnt like the wide tires (50's) on such a light car (hydroplanes easy if tread is thin)
