Died today at age 62. One of the great baseball personalities of the 1980's.

That's too bad. He was quite a showman and a pretty decent pitcher.

I recall his famous quote : "My favorite word in the English language is 'You never know'."

And anyone who watched will remember his famous explosion in Game Seven of the 1985 WS. It seemed pretty obvious that the reason Whitey Herzog brought him in at that point was so that he would explode all over the umpires.

Joaquin? One word says it all - you never know.

He was one very fine pitcher. An electric personality who just brought so much to the game. Card fans remember him fondly.

Sorely missed, even now.
