The Giants will probably sign a couple of the over 30 outfielders just in time to overpay for their declining years. Lorenzo Cain or Jay Bruce sound like the kinda guys SF would sign for five years at 18 million a year or something. They just got out of the 21 million a year they had been paying Cain, they will be looking to waste it on someone.
Wonder if the Dodgers offer Brandon Morrow a QO? I know it's a lot of money for a guy in his position/situation in the depth chart/bullpen.
But he was a big reason why the Dodgers had one of the best bullpens & with Baez being an uncertainty that could be one area the Dodgers take a step back in.
I do worry about him getting hurt & that's why I wouldn't sign him for more than a year.
I'm sure Brandon morrow would love to get a multi year deal given his age of 33. So if he declines the Dodgers get a draft pick which could be a win.

The Rays could afford Ichiro. He'd help sell some tickets and jerseys if nothing else. Maybe teach idiot Souza Jr a thing or two on how to be a professional as well.
1) Sign Wade Davis. Since the owner's aren't going to pay money for big time managers they may as well pay some big money to a pretty good reliever after they punted on the closer last year.
2) Trade Taylor to Kansas City for Kelvim Herrera. Taylor had a great playoff and with a crowded OF, even with Werth retiring, he's expandable, and they should sell high on him because he's probably not going to do much better then when he was at his peak in the playoffs. KC would probably be willing to catch lightning in a bottle with Taylor as they really don't have that much of an adequate replacement for Lorenzo Cain in the OF, and as I said on the Nats team thread, the Royals made this same exact trade just last off season: They traded a pretty good reliever (Davis) with 1 year left on his current deal, and got back a power-hitting, strike out artist OF. Luckily Soler & Taylor play different positions (RF & CF) but this has been done before. I think Soler probably has a bit more upside than Taylor, but of course Davis had a lot more value than Herrera does right now as he stunk last year. Davis & Herrera will go into a Nats bullpen with Madson & Doolittle who will both be back. That's still not as good as the Yankees or the Indians and maybe even the Dodgers, but at least its not a dumpster fire like it was to open the 2017 season. IF they resign Kintzler as well that's even better.
3) Sign a veteran SP to a 1 or 2 year deal to give them a leader. I'm looking at 2 names here: John Lackey & CC Sabathia. They won't be expected to do much, and they won't have to do much: Scherzer, Stras, Gio & Roark will continue to carry the baulk of the weight, but all Lackey & CC would be is a #5, a voice, and a leader as each has won World Series, and really that's what this choking dog organization needs more than anything.
Sometimes having two closers makes problems worse. Davis probably only goes to a team to close. Regardless Dodgers aren't going to spend that kind of money.

Well, they do still spend money. Rich Hill, Turner & Jansen are proof to that. But they want to stay under the luxury tax threshold & signing Davis would surely put them over.

We still have Dolittle under contract. And I don't think Davis would want to be regulated as a 7th innong guy.
