In "Moneyball" there was a section which discussed Billy Beane's career as a player. At one minor league stop when they were both in the Mets organization, they were teammates. Beane said that being around Dykstra was what convinced him that he wasn't going to be a ML player. Beane described Dykstra as someone with mindless confidence in himself who not only didn't think about failure, he appeared not to be thinking about baseball at all. Beane said that he recognized in Dykstra that even though Beane had way more natural talent than Lenny, this is a ballplayer and I am not.
Rumor has it when Lennys kid was drafted by the Brewers Lenny stole most of the kids signing bonus.
He also along with the money guy Jim Kramer tried to put a group of investors together to buy the Phillies. Glad that never worked out.

It's sad.. I loved Lenny as part of the '93 Phillies.. He fit in perfectly with that team.. but it turns out, he wasn't a guy like Kruk or Eisenreich or even lovably crazy like Darren Daulton.
