Somewhere on the Net, at the end of last baseball season I talked of the Indians' Jose Ramirez and his hitting woes the last 6 weeks of that season. I am a long-time Indians fan and his problems have continued into this season where at the time of this writing he is batting about .195 with 4 homers. At the end of last season as I watched Ramirez, I had visions of Lou Gehrig's sad, short final season. This year Ramirez seems to be swinging a pretty fast bat, best my eyes can determine. I think it is a case of the pitchers figuring him out. I don't know if Jose can find his way back or not. I can think of no other case where a 25 year-old player who has had several years of amazing success has suddenly, permanently looked like he should be playing for the Lincoln Nebraska Salt Dogs. The Indians need a healthy, hitting Ramirez, and Ramirez needs it too.
