Default Trade Talk / Free Agent Possibilities

Hi, guys! Welcome back. I know the season's over, but trade talks are beginning for a number of teams, including those in our division. There are also rumors swirling about folks who filed for free agency and are plenty available. Right now, for example, the Astros are looking at re-signing three pitchers, as well as the possibility of acquiring one-time Astro Mike Hampton. First, they've got to look at the futures of Doug Brocail, Randy Wolf, and LaTroy Hawkins before looking forward. They are also looking for a catcher.

So, what do you speculate for your team this fall? If you know of certain news you'd like to share here, let's talk about it.

Two Cents for the Cardinals.

Management will do everything to give prospect Colby Rasmus the CF job out of Spring Training. The surplus of outfielders will possibly mean a trade of an outfielder for a middle infielder and relief pitching or prospects.

Cardinal Mgmnt not interested in paying Peavy, even though the team is on his list of teams to go to via a trade.

Cardinal Mgmnt would like Fuentes from Colorado but the likely thought is his price tag will be too high and years too many for the Cardinals spending.

The Cardinals will add a starting pitcher, more of a bargain as Chris Carpenter insurance, not a big name or big dollar player, they will add relief pitching, definitely a lefty. They will re-tool the middle infield, and add one more big bat to the lineup.

Overall they won't be big spenders but creative with their approach.

The Cardinals are apparently going after Matt Holliday, presumably in a trade that will involve Ryan Ludwick in some form or fashion. I've also heard that there may be a four-team deal involving the Padres, Braves, Cardinals and Cubs coming in the near future. We'll see.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a few multi-team deals. Might make for a colorful offseason. I'd also be on the lookout for some key free agents.

Default NL Central Team Needs - What Are They?

And that brings me to this next: What is your team's single biggest need (position-wise) right now?? The one need to be filled by the one key player that could make or break your season next year (even though your team might need a few) -- what is it?

What do you think the Brewers' biggest need is right now? What will be the thing to get this offseason to get your team further into the playoffs, MILWCITY? What would it be? Name a position or player.
