The new ballpark will be better suited for Marlins fans and will be in a neighborhood closer to downtown and other locales, and fans should have no big problem getting there compared to their current situation. A retractable roof will make all the difference in the world. If the weather is just right, they'll have the perfect outdoor place. Let's just see how it goes come 2012. They should have a contending team, so we shall see how the new venue will play out.
With Loria in charge, a new stadium will only go so far. Having an owner that cheap means a death sentence for a team. Look at what he did to the Expos, it's not much different than the Marlins now. Even when they have a good team with solid young players - it won't last long.
You either need a salary cap or you need to contract teams with lousy owners and lousy markets. Such as getting rid of the Marlins and Pirates, then moving the Rays to take the spot in Pittsburgh.
