There is scrutiny on Lebron more than ever. Most have high expectations of him. Also considering what happened last summer, anything short of a title will be failure for the Heat. He is gonna have to win multiple titles for the media to put him in elite status.
He was responsibe for beating the Celtics and Bull in 5 Games so to me he has a great season. If the Heat lose the Finals he won't be because of him, it will be because of
Lebron is 26 and does have more years left, but no player has ever entered the NBA in the modern era, especially with more hype than him. Dirk came out of no where and has had a magnificent career, is fun to watch, elevates his team mates, and has embraced his city as well as a player possibly can.
Lebron is just a great player, who, if he doesnt win a title will be a huge failure. That stupid Lebron/Jordan debate going on is a complete joke, the guy hasnt won anything yet. Dirk has never been hyped so how can he be a failure? I dont consider Barkley or Malone or Stockton failures either. Everything has to go right to win a title, its a team game.

Maybe I should have said that will the Mavs team during the Dirk era be the biggest failure of all time

I'd be more apt to go along with that. I think in the last 20 years the two best teams to not win a title are the 06/07 Mavs, and the 03?Sac Kings, that choked to the Lakers. Both of those teams were great.

That Kings team, lol Had the Lakers down by 20 in more than one game. Also I think they blew a 3-2 lead in the series. They would have been up 3-1 if it wasn't for Divac slapping the ball back to Horry for the game winner

I would put some of those Ewing lead Knick teams along with the Malone/Stockton Jazz teams that each went to the finals twice in the 90's at the top of any failure to win even one title. I consider those Mavs and Kings teams more on the par with several Sun's teams with Sir Charles and more recently Nash that were just not good enough defensively..
How can you call someone who has had the kind of post season stats he has, (esp. this year) "the biggest failure of all time"???
He could walk away today, and flip burgers the next two years, and the Mavs could lose in 4, and he will still be a shoe-in for the hall of fame.
Your question is ridiculous.
Not if he fails to show up in two Finals appearances
