So I have $400 on the line with some of my Laker fans. I think the Clippers will have a better record this year. I see them as a #4 seed and the Lakers at #6...maybe #5. I hope #5, that would be an amazing first round match.
This is the worst Laker roster in several years. They don't have a good starting SF or PG and the bench is very weak. I find Mike Brown to be extremely overrated. A completely new system and a team depending on Kobe more now than possible ever. Kobe is great but people forget how many miles he's been on. He is in the top 20 of total minutes OF ALL TIME. Laker fans can't expect him do 30+ points a night and it's already starting to show with is wrist injury.
Now, I'm not crazy and going to say the CLIPshow are going to win it all. However, I do think they have a much better starting 5 than the Lakers. Jordan is a good center and Billups has a good track record with new teams. More importantly, their bench is deeper.
With the impacted season, the Lakers age and lack of bench depth is going to cripple them. Don't be surprised if Kobe asks for another trade. Don't give me the Howard trade talk, why would he come to a dying team?
I'd take the lakers in that bet because it's going to take a while for the Clippers to find their synergy and the Lakers core has been mostly together for a long time.
Big wildcard that could save you though is injuries. IMO

Injury? Bynum is more injury prone than Paul and Griffin. Lakers are the 5th oldest team in the league.

Yes, use history to determine the present. With your logic, Dallas would have never won last year. Great logic you have there. Kudos!
Clippers are another hype beast...OMG Dallas wins 1 Championship after failing way more times. OMG amazing!
New NBA fans have all of the basketball I.Q of the backboard
Excellent post! Sound logic for sure! Lakers for the win because Kobe's #1 fan says Kobe is greater then the clippers franchise and Dallas won a ring finally!

Paul is not hype and neither is blake. However, they haven't been together that long.
Then again what you are arguing about is which mediocre playoff team in the west is better.
Lakers are 1 (likely impending) injury from being out of the playoffs.
