Oh yeah....if you have a ton of cap space, little trade value and are willing to over-pay on free agents to lure them in you too can build a horrible team that falls apart on you.
I should look up how much Paul Pierce and KG cost the Nets when they played there. I bet it wasn't cheap lol.
The draft picks alone made it a disgraceful trade, never mind the salaries. There couldn't have been one person outside the organization who thought the Nets were making a good trade at the time.
4 years WITHOUT the playoffs? You are on and I will even count this year. The most significant positive move this offseason will be Kobe's retirement.
I'm not saying they will hang championship banners in that four year window. All I'm saying for anyone to dismiss the fact that they can't and won't attract top end superstar talent is going a little too far.
The Lakers can build through UFA's. Many teams cannot. The LA market is what it is. The history of the franchise- many franchises aren't even close.
Soooo, where are those UFA's?
Luol Deng and Mozgov? There goes 136mil over the next 4 years.
When, when I ask.....because I've been hearing now for years how LA is the place to be and how they would rake in free agents...and they don't.
LA had a MOUNTAIN of money to spend and all they added were Luol Deng and Mosgov at obscene, 4-year deals.
Where is the "everyone wants to be in LA" free agents?
I've taken Sh*t for YEARS for pointing out the Lakers are in a bad slide and I've heard every excuse about how NEXT year the free agents will swarm and how I'm a Laker hater.

Well? What is the excuse this time?
Going to start bumping other threads.....
The only way any big name goes to the Lakers is if they're seeking a big payday in a big market, and don't care much about winning a championship. Like Carmelo Anthony. Russell Westbrook might do it, since he's from LA and seems that type, but no one else is attracted to the Lakers right now.
