If the Warriors win, will this go down as the most magical season in NBA history?
So many highs and lows. They won 24 straight to start the season, which is a record in all professional team sports, not just the NBA. Then you've got that wild game in Oklahoma City where Steph hits the game winning 3. They get 73 wins by the skin of their teeth only for Steph to go out with an injury in the 1st Round. He makes a triumphant return to put away Portland, then they run into that Thunder buzzsaw, and claw their way back from a 1-3 deficit behind some clutch Thompson and Curry performances. Incredible.
The Bulls' 72 win season seems kinda boring and stress free in comparison. Some will say "that's because the Bulls were just that much better than the competition," and while that may be true, it didn't make for as fun of a ride IMO.
And this who they let wear number 23 & Compare to Jordan & Kobe ? Some idiots even think he's better than Kobe SMH
Kobe at least should have 3 or 4 Mvps in his career or even more.He was screwed to play with Chris paul but the league let Lebron create his own team for the past 6 years and he still can't win Lol.
Like Jordan said,Kobe's the only one in his realm.Lebron is all hype with no type of offensive skills,Just run to the basket traveling or get stripped.TIME TO RETIRE LBJ !
Most Magical Regular Season ?
Gotta be this year's Warriors for sure !!!
Most magical playoff ?
Lakers in 2000 or 2002,Overcoming those Blazers & Kings was hell in 7 games.
The regular season made the Warriors' playoff run more meaningful. If Klay Thompson hadn't gone off, a 73 win season would have gone down the drain. If the Lakers had lost in Game 7, they'd just be another team that lost in the playoffs. Besides, they were leading the Blazers during most of that series, so there was no dramatic comeback. I could see that being a special moment for Lakers fans, but it does not stand out in the minds of most non-Laker fans.
The problem with the Cavs is not their offense. Because even if their offense was great, they’d still lose. Why? Because their defense is terrible.
What makes the Warriors great? Steph? Klay? Draymond? The Death Lineup? Iggy’s D? Quality backups like Livingston? Kerr’s coaching? The front office?
I would argue that what makes the Warriors great is they relentlessly focus on getting good looks. Notice that this isn’t outcome-oriented. It’s quality of looks. You rarely see iso-ball with them. You see them taking deep 3s which are typically bad shots but good for them because they have the shooters. You see them taking quick shots in transition whereas other teams insist on setting up the offense. Why? Because those are good shots for them.
The Thunder series was so difficult because the Thunder were able to disrupt these looks. They had excellent perimeter defenders. Excellent help defense. They took away the 3s and the backdoor cuts. Finishing around the rim became an adventure. Everything that seemed to work against the rest of the league didn’t seem to work against the Thunder.
The Cavs, however, are so far doing none of that.
Even those not an 'expert' on analyzing defense, can tell just from the general body movement, body language, intensity, that the difference between the OKC defense and Cavs defense so far is like night and day.
Lakers was down by at least 16 or 17 before Halftime or the third Quarter.Brian Shaw hit that 3 off the backboard before the buzzer and they went on a Magical Run in the fourth to closeout that great Blazers team. Both the Blazers & Kings were never the same after losing to the Lakers in the early 2000 playoff battles. For sure a Magical comeback and run !
I know everyone is saying "it's time for LeBron to take charge."
I have to disagree. The Cavs didn't get here because LeBron took charge. They got here by having JR Smith hit ridiculous 3s, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving putting up 20 every night, Frye and Jefferson coming in off the bench and dominating, Delly, Shumpert and Smith playing tenacious defense, everyone moving the ball, and LeBron doing his thing. How would having LeBron play hero ball beat a team with at least 4 guys that can easily put up 20-30 points?
You need your superstar to step up when you're struggling. I agree that once GS compensates to stop Lebron, Smith, Love, Irving need to make their shots. SO I partially agree with you.
