I think at this point nobody really does, thats going to be a record thats going to withstand the test of time! Kobe came the closest with 81, but at this point i dont think nobody will come closer than that, the competition is too much for anybody to achieve this!

Only in an intentional attempt to break the record. Then it could be done.
ie) David Robinson back in the day when they had to get him close to 80pts. to win the scoring title.
Wasn't the final score in Chamberlain's record-setting game 162-147? If there's ever a game like that again in the NBA, then I'd say that someone might have a chance--but not more than that--at breaking the record. And that's assuming that the player in question had somehow managed to put up at least 50 in the first half. Then, by conscious design, there might be that tiny chance.
the only way that gets broken these days is with a very good player on a very bad team playing another very bad team (ie kobe's then lakers vs the raps) and it would take AT LEAST one over time if not 2-3. kobe or wade are the only 2 i could see doing it now, and kobes lakers are to balanced now for him to take 60 shots in a game. wade on the other hand i could see getting that many shots against the raps or the suns or the warriors.
i still dont think it happens. also considering wilt didnt have 3 pointers, wow.

A good point.
Also a great reminder to those that like to make stat comparisons across era's. Even in the last 10-15 years scoring has gone up >10%.

And if there were another game like that, I'd think the coaches would be fired for allowing that many points.
IIRC, there is no television footage of that game Wilt scored 100 points. It was one of the last games of the season and a dismal matchup, so they didn't bother to send cameras. How times have changed.
I don't think its as impossible as everyone is saying. While unlikely, the way players go to the line nowadays, it is certainly possible. It would be a freak occurance, but not the craziest thing to have ever happened.
Nah I doubt that will happen. I think the reason Wilt was able to do it (not discounting him btw) is mostly because he was a freak in terms of height back then, and the competition was nowhere near what it is nowadays. This made it much easier for him to do this, and I still doubt that it was that easy for him to do it.
Another case in point, the 2 of the best since his time (Kobe/Jordan) have come close (relatively speaking) but still are far off, and none of the best centers since his time have managed to do it either. So yeah, I highly doubt anyone will ever do it. I think even Kobe's 81 will be tough to match.
