As my family gets ready for our big move to Three Rivers next week, we spent a week hiking Yosemite with my brother and he asked me about the bugs in Bend Oregon. I realized I have no clue about what kind of bug issues (if any) there are up there. We didn't have terrible insect issues in San Diego, maybe a small problem with ants, and sometimes ticks in the more remote areas, but nothing major. When I was stationed on the east coast the roaches and black flies were the worst. What are the more prevalent insect pests in the Bend region, and what seasons (or times of day)are they more of a problem? Thanks in advance.

When I lived in (TRS) IE: DRRH-6 located at State Recreation Road and Foster.... we had MOSQUITOES.... Thankfully they spray every week..... But it is BAD, all along the big Deschutes River in this area (DRRH-6). The ants were kinda bad, but thankfully they were not the fire ants.

The mosquito season is NOW (May 1st) till it starts getting cold (probably October 1st)

I don't know where you purchased.... so you man to experience mosquitoes. I don't recall black flies (deer flies). For the most part Central Oregon doesn't really have a bug problem

We have had our property in TRS for a few years, and are also making our move next week. I have to agree with Skypros on this one. It is called three rivers for a reason, and rivers attract mosquitoes. the Little Deschutes which moves very slow and has a lot of dead water spots. The Mosquitoes can be pretty bad, at times but not always. the only other bugs I have noticed arEspecially e ants and some Beetles that like to attack wood piles.
