Major storm pounding the mountains with high winds and lots of snow. We need it! So far just rain in town but that may change to snow tonight according to one forecast I follow.

I thought the same thing. It was really howling that night. Those numbers from Mt Bachelor are insane!

Weather in Bend can be variable. There is not really a "normal". The only thing that is a certainty is that the weather is going to do what the weather is going to do.

Yesterday morning, I look out the window and it is both raining and snowing at the same time.

I've seen days when it was snowing hard out one side of the house and sunny and dry out the other side

That's very true, Hawk! It's been a week of crazy weather here in Bend. Lots of strong winds, as noted above, finally ushered in the big storms that were predicted. Yesterday, it finally started snowing and we had about half an inch before it warmed up in the evening and turned to rain. But, overnight, it cooled back down and we have snow again! Looks like about an inch or two in my backyard. The forecast is calling for snow on and off throughout today. It's very winter wonderland like outside today!

And, it looks like Mt. Bachelor is reporting 20 new inches of snow in the last 24 hours! That's great news!

In my neck of the woods we had 2-3" before the rain mix started. A little over 4" is on the ground now with the base saturated from rain so it is very heavy. It was a back breaker to shovel. Temps are forecast to fall to the 20s tonight so I wanted to get it up before it turned to several inches of ice. I made that mistake one year and it wasn't pretty!

Temps dropped last night to 18 degrees this morning. Everything that wasn't cleared is a frozen rock solid. +1 for Yaktrax!

A brisk 13 degrees for this morning's walk. Forecast says up to 5+ inches of snow by Thursday night.

Yeah, pretty chilly working outdoors in this weather, almost not possible for my line of work (lots of layers)

Where did you see the 5+ inches? Weather.com says it's supposed to rain through Thursday, but I've heard of snow too. Weather.com rarely seems right, so just curious as I'd like to try and get more accurate forecasts...if at all possible. Thanks!

The snow at the mountain is incredible right now for early season! I was up there yesterday and they received 36" over the last 3 days with more forecast, woohoo! We will probably get tons of snow since this is the first year with the exception of an injury year, where I haven't bought a pass.
