First of all, the lifted pickup trucks; I've seen hundreds of them, and I was wondering what the purpose was. Is it to go through flooded roads or something?

Also, pretty much all of the roofs I've seen are made of thin sheets of metal, presumably to run rainwater down more efficiently. However, don't they rust easily with all the moisture?

My last question is about the cans of soda and the little ridges on top. I cannot see a real purpose to this, so I don't have any guesses.

Two kinds of "4 wheelers" in Hawaii.
1. Posers
2. Off roaders

The posers are jacked up into the sky, trucks are always very clean and shiny, no rust, no scratches, and hardly see rain. BTW, if they are sporting a pitbull with heavy chain for a collar, that's a professional poser. Most of these are in Honolulu but you'll find them on the BI too.

The real off-roaders get a lift kit/tires just high enough to clear the terrain where they most often go hunting/fishing/camping. For most people that spend a lot of time outdoors, a 4 wheel drive, lifted or not, is a necessity. Especially true if you live in sub-divisions with "improved" roads.
