So anyone here live in Ocean View or able to answer...wondering what the average temps are near the top of the subdivision along Pineapple Parkway? I think it’s 3200 ft above sea level.

It'll be cool during the day, upper 60's, 70's and cold at night (well, Hawai'i cold, anyway).
We are at 2,500' and get down to 55 or so at night during the winter. Altitude makes all the difference in comfort, unless you have and can afford to run AC.
Hopefully your house has a wood stove or fireplace, as do most of the houses further up.

We have friends who live near the top of Ocean View and they report nighttime temps in the 40s in the winter. I didn't move to Hawaii to be that cold!

The top of HOVE is how many feet in elevation? 4,000 or more? I'd guess they go through a lot of brake pads on their cars, too.

I have an 800' drop in elevation every time I leave my house (5-7 times per week).

My car is over 10 years old. Original brakes.

This is why your car has a gear shift.

Anybody have any idea if I hit the return key one time, it shows as one line down when I type my post, but there is always a lot of white space after I hit save? I've stopped editing the white space out, and you can see how that looks.

The top of HOVE is around 5,000 feet, and the elevation at the highway is 2,000 feet. That's a long way to go straight down!

Thanks for the feedback. I actually had not considered how cool it would be up at that elevation during the winter time. Oh well, not a big deal. The house has an outstanding permit to build a fireplace so maybe we will do that. Probably easier just put a furnace in

Perhaps another consideration for those looking to live at the top of HOVE is that some of it is in lava hazard zone #1.

I had no idea this was the case until it was recently brought to my attention. So, it could be an issue for insurance if you're inclined to want it.

I don't even know if they sell furnaces in Hawaii. I don't know anyone who has one. Everyone that I know that lives in a cold place uses a fireplace. Hotzcatz, do you know the answer to this?

Even if you could buy a furnace - the home wouldn't have the vents to utilize it.
