I have a 2000W generator that needs a new carburetor (I was told) and possibly a new timing belt.
I can get the parts in a few days, but I'd only attempt to install them myself if really no one does this as a biz.
(I have the unit's repair manual PDF... I replaced smaller things on it before.)
Is there a repair person that you'd recommend?

Aguiar's mobile repair would come to your place and do the job. He's good, but not cheap.

The only place I'm aware of is Puna Small Engine Repair but I've never used them. There was a shop attached to Pahoa Feed and after they closed the guy moved down the road.

Found this on FB:

Update: I called / messaged all 3 places, with a description of the generator problem. Not 1 replied. Ever.
So I bought a $30 off-brand carburetor online, put it in, and the generator have been running daily since 14 days by now.

Unfortunately, that sounds pretty par for the course. Glad to hear you were able to tackle that problem yourself. I've had carb issues myself and always assumed the repair was beyond my ability. I have a generator that will only run if it's at half choke, and I'm assuming that is bad for the fuel efficiency.
