Have you fed wild birds crushed corn flakes? (feather)

I got a box of corn flakes and crushed the up, putting them in the bird feeder that I normally put sunflower seeds in. Yes, it's only been 24 hours, but can I expect the feathered friends to be as big a pig with the cornflakes as they are with the seeds? Am I the only one silly enough to try this? Help me out if you will.

It's against our town's by-laws to feed wild birds but I am a scofflaw.

I'm not referring to hanging bird feeders, but I mean throwing scraps into the park across the street.

I love crows. I adore them. I'd have a pet crow if I could, if I didn't have four pet birds of my own.

Those gluttons, along with their cousins, the seagulls, will eat anything.

I throw all our scraps out for them, fat, bones, pizza crusts, you name it. The crows and gulls will demolish them all.

It's recycling at its best!

and other left over cereals along with birdseed...but only 1/2 cup a day on my window sill, I'm a scofflaw as well.
