Sure is! Ever since they built that spacecraft factory down there to supply ships for the Bessemer Intergalactic Spaceport, the place has been a blast!

A development that will have the capacity to comfortably house 30,000 visiting creatures from other planets.

Yes, Calera is still growing. I'm there several times each week. It has the state's fastest growing population of young families. Lots of commercial development, too

What is this, troll week? I dob't get the crazy responses earlier Anyway, I live near Calera in unincorporated Shelby County. Calera has the second-highest number of residential building permits in the county so far this year -- behind only Hoover. I will say that the bulk of the construction I see in Calera is of the first-time-homebuyer type. You know, townhouses for 100-120K and houses on small lots with 1-car garages for 120-160K. The trouble I see is that Calera isn't really getting any of the move-up communities. Maybe it is still "too far out" for someone who has 300K to spend and can afford Hoover.

There is a Publix set to open in April. As for jobs, there are Sysco and Saginaw Pipe. There is lots of light industry, it appears, in the industrial parks. Calera doesn't have office buildings where one would find a corporate headquarters or branch office, but there are doctors and accountants and . .

Overall, we enjoy living here. But I still wonder how well all the dense entry-level houseing is going to age after about 15-20 years.
