McCalla is a fast growing area, however, you need to be careful of where you buy because of the RR Hub planned.

Homewood is a bit pricey but well worth the money. Lots of walkability anywhere near the downtown Homewood and Homewood Park area's. GREAT SCHOOLS! I am a grad from 1976 but have neices and nephews who have been recent grads. My Mom has been there for 44 years and wouldn't live anywhere else. Very close community. If you could pick up a foreclosure or shortsale property it would be well worth the money!

Stay on the Southside of BHM. As we say "Over the Mountain". I would try to locate in Shelby County which is on #280 leading out of BHM. Stay out of North BHM, West BHM. 20 miles away is Moody; good schools, and there is Trussvile a short distance from BHM I-59.
Search Trussville, Moody, Pell City, Hoover,

We are in the process of moving there too. My husband is in an extended stay hotel now and I am packing the house. I am torn between Homewood High School district and Spain Park district. I am also told Hoover High would be fine.

Your thoughts on this?

It really depends on hubby's commute. If he's anywhere close to downtown, then Spain Park would be a big problem.
