Hi,
How hard is it to find a car (that works) up to 2.000 USD?
Where can I check cars? I checked on craigslist but they're not very nice.
Or, is it possible to rent a car for a month that is not like super expensive??
Any ideas?

Thanks

I saw your other post... You can check al.com --the classifieds.

The trouble you will run into is that if you don't have a permanent address (and an Al drivers license) in Alabama, you won't be able to register the car. You will have to wait until you lease an apt before you purchase the car.

Maybe right around the $2,000 mark but anything less will have no AC (a must here), over 200,000 miles (never good if you haven't owned the car), lots of problems (never good)

A little advice: NEVER pay the list price for the car. With the exception of 1 place in Birmingham - and I forget the name, but surely someone will post it - all car sellers expect to bargain with you on the car price. Use New Cars, Used Cars - Find Cars at AutoTrader.com or the classified ads on Alabama Local News, Breaking News, Sports & Weather - al.com to figure out the maximum you should pay. Make your first offer very low. You can go up from there.

Many people will also tell you to have a trusted mechanic check out the car, especially if it's a used car. And check the car title. You can do that on a Web site (I forget which one), and it'll cost a few dollars, but will be worth it because it will give you a little of the car's history. You'll need the car's VIN (vehicle identification number) to trace it.

You'll pay the least buying from an individual, but it's also the riskiest. Be sure you have a mechanic check it out. Good luck!!
