Hi everyone, my name is Leah Adams. My husband Dan and our seven children live on a horse farm in north Georgia. We are highly considering relocating and want some info on Boise. We are outdoor people!!! And have heard Boise has much to satisfy that! We are thinking of taking a long weekend to come check things out come spring. Any advice?
Hi, Leah! Welcome to this forum. My advice would be to spend some time using the search tool in the Boise forum and read through the plethora of recent great advice to people like yourself looking at Boise and the surrounding area as a place to relocate.
If you want advice on housing, give folks some clues about your preferences and price range and maybe folks will offer thoughts. If you want help finding the right school, there are a number of threads on that to pick thru and then maybe ask specific questions.
My guess is that you can probably find something appealing in the area. depending on how fast you want to move you might interview a few realtors by phone ?email and plan to spend at least half a day with one of them when you come out to look.
Thank you for the advice. We are doing much research. We are looking up schools, as we homeschool till high school because the school system is poor here. We also have one in college and one going into college starting next fall. We live on 47 acres, so we are trying to decide if we could be happy in a neighborhood again. What we have found is there are a few better places, Eagle being one of them. We are catholic and saw several, what seemed to be, nice churches. Have I stated anything true yet?? Remember, all we have to go by is what we find on the Internet. Need jobs as well. My husband is a partner here for a automobile store, and I am in my masters for public health and nutrition. I have a degree in education.
We thought about renting for a year.... Wouldn't want to spend more than2k a month on a rental. That way we could have some time to look and really decide where to buy a permanent home
Anybody know much about Hidden Springs? Quality of houses and the type of people?
I live out in Hidden Springs. The houses seem typical of new construction quality. Even the priciest of homes aren't very meticulously built, but that's any homes these days. The people come from all walks. It used to be more of a members only club than it is now after the housing market crashed. Lots of us common folk got in
Very nice community and we are very happy there. I've got two kids aged 2 & nearly 4 and they have tons of friends. Great for families.
Contact the Boise chamber of commerce and they will forward you a packet. Or, contact a local, yet larger realtor (Centur.21, etc.) and they can also forward you a "relocation kit" which will have alot of info in it.
Idaho is incredibly pretty with some of the nicest people you would ever meet. Jobs are very low paying on the average though. Politically and socially it is very conservative. Extremely safe as far as crime goes.....compared to almost anywhere.
Please try to check out this movie that was just recently released.
you may have to purchase it to see it but you could at least look at the website to get an idea. BE FOREWARNED......after viewing this movie you will MOST likely be moving to Idaho. I am quite serious about that!! you will be in awe of the scenic beauty her. But "sshhhhhhhhssssshh" ........don't tell anyone...it's truly a hidden treasure here that most of the country does not know about.
Hidden Springs is a great community but is a little isolated geographically. Personally, I love how it is tucked away in the foothills and is very safe, clean and beautiful. People who live there love it. But if you have a job that is outside of downtown or NW Boise, you will have a pretty long commute plus things like major grocery stores and shopping are a ways away.
Thank you Benchfan, but how far is a commute to you? We are at least 30 minutes from everything, so if it's less, we would be thrilled!!!!!
