I am a single senior male and moved to a 55+ community. Plenty of people my age with which to do things and go places. Well within your budget too. However, I'm in North Idaho, and don't agree with LadyKatie3 that it is "too weird and remote". But I don't mind the bad press. Too many people moving here as it is. You may want to consider a 55+ community for yourself.

I admit N Idaho might not be “too weird and remote” but many other Idaho locations, for someone from an urban area, may feel that way.

Unfortunately drugs are everywhere, Boise is not immune. Parents just need to be diligent and know who their kids are hanging out with and keep them interested in other things. They are less likely to be tempted to go down that road.
