This one caught me by surprise. It sounded interesting and was only $1.99 for the kindle. So, I bought it. It's really good. Kinda' hard to describe. I didn't want to go to bed last night because it's so good. Woke up this morning and it's the first thing I thought of.
It's a bit Hitchcockian and in no way a sweet story. It's exciting like Coben's The Stranger is. What's going on? It is slowly unfolding but I am unable to second guess it.
The editing is excellent. I have to look up words from time to time (I like that). The protagonist is likeable and I think a lot of readers will identify with her.

"Chasing the Scream: The First and Last Days of the War on Drugs" by Johann Hari (2015).
It's due back at library Thursday, hoping I'll make it through the 300 pages before then.
This one sounds good and informative. Let me know how you liked it when you are finished reading it, cloven. Okay? Okay.
I read this book ages ago. I was aware of the author because I had seen a movie titled "Report to the Commissioner" based on one of his books and liked it. So I read the novel by the same name. That author is James Mills.
I think you might like Underground Empire, Chava. I'm basing that on other books that you have read and mentioned in this forum. It's nonfiction and rather scary. I don't mean "scary" in a slasher kind of way but "scary" in that these things are actually going on.
I guess I'll have to pull my Lori Lansens books out of the shelves. I've never read them. Strange things will put me off a book once in a while and her name bothered me. The alliteration reminded me of Harlequin romances.
