I came across this today, found it interesting, and thought that I'd share:

The 10 Most Powerful Women Authors - Avril David - Positive Impact - Forbes

The only one that I cared to see on the list -- and wow! I absolutely LOVE that she made the list -- is Jhumpa Lahiri.

really??

I loved the List.

Love Alice Walker. I enjoy reading Maya Angelou and although Toni Morrison's books require some getting into, once I get into them they are hard for me to put down.

Overall I think it wasn't too shabby a list. Would probably throw in Anne Rice to add a little crazy to the list

Wow at Danielle Steel's book sales count

Isn't it funny how people have such different preferences ... The only author on that list I give a rap about is Joyce Carol Oates.

Oh, I didn't mean that I didn't think that (some of) the others weren't worthy. Sorry if I spoke as if I meant that.

I just meant that Lahiri was such a pleasant surprise (I love her short stories) that it was her name that made the list so great for me.

I agree about Lahiri. Her works are magic.

I was also very happy to see Rowling on that list if for no other reason than she got kids to read. Plus, I love the Harry Potter series.

The only two ladies on the list that I have read are Mary Higgins Clark and Danielle Steel.
The contemporary Female authors I read most are Janet Evanovich, J.J. Jance, Ann Coulter
and Laura Ingraham. Taylor Caldwell, Harper Lee and Margaret Mitchell have made my list of all time favorite books also. I am sure there are a lot of stories I have read that were written by Women but most of my favorites were written by Men. It must be the Chauvinist in me.

Haven't read by all the women on the list. I personally would not have put Stephenie Meyer on that list. I read the Twilight series as well as "The Host" and did not find any of the 5 books all that impressive for writing. I actually could not wait to be done with most of them when I got halfway through.

I guess I should look into reading Jhumpa Lahiri. I've never read Joyce Carol Oates, but I do have one of her books on my shelf.

I didn't read her novel -- I've no interest, really -- but her short stories (both Interpreter of Maladies and Unaccustomed Earth) are incredible. And I don't even like short stories!
