I still prefer books on paper. It's better for the eyes as well.

Great points. When I travel, I always have 2-3 paperbacks with me. I call this my "portable library". Also, there's something satisfying about curling up with a good book. Somehow, curling up for a good read with a tablet or other computer screen doesn't have the same effect.

Necro-thread alert, people! This is a 7-year-old thread, but still a pretty good topic.

That only makes it more interesting to see how viewpoints may, or may not, have changed over that time.

I would have sworn that I would always stick with my beloved 'real' books, but as I have aged and my eyes have become worse I finally turned to ebooks as a way to find a broader variety of material to read. My local library has a somewhat decent sized section of large print books, but they all seem to fall into either romance or mysteries. I suppose I could request large print titles to be transferred in, but that is a bit of a hassle and also eliminates the fun of browsing for titles that catch my eye. Nowadays I find I do my browsing online and have the titles delivered instantly.

I have always refused to read ebooks. I dont usually do library books, I should though. I like to collect them also. I buy books on my "to be read" list and then never read them since the list always changes haha.

Heres the thing about ereaders. I DESPISE reading on my phone. So my husband, thinking he was being helpful and knowing I love to read, bought me a kindle. I used it 1 day, left it in my car (i can leave books in my car!) where it promptly overheated and broke. Oh well. Back to books it is.

Kindle can't handle non-fiction book graphics at all (maps, drawings, illustrations, paintings, etc.). I actually stopped reading a kindle ebook and got the hardcover and the kindles was only showing maybe a fourth of the book graphics, skipping many. And I'm reading more non-fiction, so the library is getting more of my hardcover borrowing business.

(cont.) For fiction though, I still prefer my kindle paperwhite.
