I'm considering a move there. It seems safe, clean, quiet (inside, during the day, not during Red Sox season). Any advice? I just can't find modern luxury in Back Bay/Downtown at the $3k/month price point so I thought this might be a nice option.
The Red Sox play about 80 home games a year, the majority of them on weeknights. Boylston Street itself, like nearby Landsdowne Street and Brookline Avenue, is a pre and post game drinking destination.
Other than that the area is fine, but to me the proximity to the park would be a deal killer, and I suspect others would agree.
Boylston is a noisy street, but the adjacent Fenway neighborhood is nice. There was a sweet restaurant row right there on Peterborough which we loved but unfortunately the whole thing burned down 2 years ago. You will hear the game in your house, but I think that's no big deal. What will be a big deal is the constant honking at that traffic light. My experience on Tremont St leads me to suggest one should never live at a traffic light in Boston. You're also going to listen to big mouth drunks all night till 2am or 3am. They hang around their cars and make noise for an hour after the clubs close down. They also urinate everywhere.
Essentially, you're gonna have to deal with noise. That, and that part of Boylston is pretty much an eyesore. A lot of trash, a lot of car exhaust. Car alarms may also be a nightmare.
