Boston has plenty of museums. Science museum, museum of fine art, computer museum, isabella gardener (art) museum, childrens museum.

I find the science one to be pretty boring since its just the touring exhibitions that change. Computer museum isn't that big..it's kinda like going to a hamfest.

the MFA is nice.

I know what you are trying to say but you might want to put the Richard Florida book down for a moment. How long can someone really be captivated by those things?

There's plenty of young people in boston but they are probably all around their campuses. Campuses have more on location so they don't have to leave. Vending companies set up for food and technically if it is a public school it is exempt from the state meals taxes.

It's tough to find all of that in one neighborhood. I'm not sure what you consider "hip". There really aren't any "hipsters" in Boston. Most of the young people in Boston are undergrads who, frankly, may prefer bars that don't card over art galleries. You can find some of what you're looking for scattered around the city and especially close to colleges and universities. For museums, check out the area around Northeastern and Simmons, which is home to the museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Gardner Museum. There's also the Museum of Science, the MIT Museum (I believe it's the computer museum referenced below) and the Harvard Museum of Natural History.

Art galleries are scattered throughout the city and there really is no one neighborhood that's filled with them. Cafes and restaurants can also be found through the city and aren't just visited by young people for the most part (unless they're near a major university). Some neighborhoods that may have a few of what you're looking for include:

Jamaica Plains
The "Squares": Harvard, Central, Union, Inman, Davis
Allston/Brighton
Mission Hill
South End

I'm actually a new yorker. I've found a high paying job in Cambridge. I'm 27 and I've been a professor of PoliScience in Columbia Universety for 2 and a half years now. That's really the main reason why I might relocate to Boston.
