Etna Bakery, on a little side street in the North End had the best cannolis. No soggy bottoms sitting in a brightly lit refrigerated case like Modern and Mikes.

They closed at least about 30 years ago when I left Boston and always wondered why. Anyone know?

Thanks

Mary, Hope this helps some. Here is a post of what I got from Googling Etna bakery.
There was another resteraunt called the "European" in the North End that closed not too long ago and I wish I knew why. They had great food and a better atmosphere. A toast to lost eateries

Default Where did Etna Bakery go?

Don't know if your still getting responses to this post, but thought I'd try to get you an answer. Anna, her husband and son lost their store because they made the mistake of renting, not buying, the store where the bakery stood. So, when the building was sold, they had no protection from onerous rent increases demanded by the new owner and eventually, they had to close or risk losing everything.

Hope this helps,
Kelly
