Oh, and Allston, especially Lower Allston is fine, too...just loud and maybe unattractive. Gee, how old are you people?

From my vantage point the problem with this location is how quiet and dark the area gets at night. I know that sounds weird, but the density of pedestrians (on foot) and the streetscape/lighting can really affect the location.

I'm a city person and I've never felt unsafe in Allston at night (for ex) but I've walked this stretch of Huntington before at night (8:30 pm in the winter), and it was creepy, to be honest. I felt more safe crossing Cambridge Common at 3 am by myself.

Of course my opinion is also probably shaped by the fact that I have a dear friend who lived, until this year, 3 blocks from this apartment. He lived in a gorgeous, remodeled double-decker (with the owner on the 2nd floor) with two others - not "slummy transient students" but all late 20s working professionals. In 3 years their house has been buglarized 2x. His roommate's car has been damaged/vandalized. Their next-door neighbor's house has been burglarized too.

(Suffice to say they're all moving)
