According to some Chinese language media, she was raped at night by a black man. A week later she ended her own life.
English media have no detailed report yet.

How sad and tragic. Has the rapist been caught? I would have just put a bullet behind his head, but I trust our justice system will simply coddle him.

This new is not true. Brandeis University has clarified already that "To be entirely clear, Brandeis University has received no report whatsoever, in any form, of any assault involving the student who lost her life. This outrageous allegation has absolutely no basis in fact."

Right, there is no official report yet.
But the university statement sounds like a lawyer's work, which does not prove or disprove anything.

Sounds to me like a university desperate to cover up something, and the current political and cultural climate of "Black lives matter" makes things "more complicated." That's America 2016 for you.

That's not what the wording says. The wording says they've received no report of any kind. That's a definitive, factual statement and said university lawyer wouldn't clear it unless that's actually the case, because they'll be at risk for a lawsuit if that later turns out to be false.

The fact remains that the University not having received report of a rape, does not mean that she did not get raped. It is possible she was raped off campus, and thus the University would not necessarily have knowledge of the rape. And/or she was raped but did not report the rape to any police or university officials. Scccc said earlier in the thread that the assault allegation was not true, in fact the poster does not know that.

Reminds me of how Loretta Lynch testified before Congress that she was not aware of any credible evidence of there being a Ferguson effect, then people conflated that to mean the Ferguson Effect was a myth, when in fact she said no such thing.

A student has been dead for over a week and I would assume the university more or less knows what has happened, to some extent. However the statement says nothing about the cause, not even a hint. Generally speaking, it is very likely that the university wants to cover something, or to excuse itself from some responsibility.

Horrible tragedy-- I can only imagine what was going through her mind during the last week.

I do hope, though, that this does not dissuade foreign students from coming to America to study, as tha vast, vast majority will be fine, and will not have to worry excessively about crime in their everyday lives.
