Our multicultural family of 4, including our two African American boys ages 8 & 5, are planning a move this summer.

I have been reading the posts - seems like there are many of us in the same search mode and there is lots of knowledge out there on this forum. Thank you!

So I ask: We are also looking for good schools, reasonable housing costs (<450K), commuting distance to Cambridge (preferably with a combination of public transportation and.....diversity.

Any ideas?

I'm not very knowledgeable about the school situation, but you might be able to find a 3 bedroom condo right in Cambridge within your price range.

Quincy also comes to mind (straight shot to Cambridge on the Red Line). You could find a lovely single family home in your price range, within walking distance to the T.

You could find an apartment in Brookline for that price--good school system, good parks, multicultural, easy commuting distance to Cambridge.
