Unfortunately, I have to say goodbye to Boston, in which city I have been stayed for 8 years.

I am going to move to Texas, and wonder if anyone know any low cost relocation ways, so that I can save some money on moving. I will get rid of all my furnitures and only take my clothes, shoes, books, some kitchen supplies... I think all my stuffs can probably be fit into 10-20 printer paper boxes and I can load and unload them by myself.

I really appreciate any suggestions or comments.

Have a great day.
Jean

I know it's a long drive, but have you thought about renting a Ryder or U-Haul? Sounds as if you could easily haul this quantity of belongings yourself, which would probably be cheaper than paying a mover.

We used pods. Reinventing self storage, local and long distance moving | PODS . You could maybe use UPS ground and take a bus. Also greyhound has a package service - though UPS is probably cheaper. I shipped my stuff in a pod and then drove down slowly over four days time. Without a trailer, they drive was pretty much just like a vacation - me and my doag!

I have checked one-way U-Haul rental. The rate is around 1500$, not including gas yet. I am expecting something less than 1000$ including gas.

I will check out PODS, UPS and greyhound.

Thanks a lot for your replies.

Similar to PODS, check out doortodoor.com and unitsstorage.com. The thing with PODS and the like is to check out any hidden costs. With PODS, you need to get (pay for) a permit from the city to keep the container on the street overnight.

UPS or driving may be your best bet if you don't have a lot of stuff. If you don't have a car, look into renting a minivan with a drop off point in TX. Many rentals offer unlimited mileage so you're just paying for gas and the extra fee for a different drop off.
