Don't forget porcupines! I swear our dog put our vet's kids thru college.

Raccoons are a big problem too as are skunks and rattlesnakes.

Ah yes, you made me remember. We had a raccoon come in through the pet door; it made itself at home in a kitchen cabinet.

That was exciting.

For me I would be most concerned with snakes. I have a friend who has a house backing to open space in Westminster and he finds snakes in his yard all the time. He says they're kind of big too.

There are Mt Lions even in E Colorado. If I can find some old old pics I'll share them. When I lived in Widefield there was a couple of mt lions on the base in the hills (carson).

Boulder house cat has close encounter with mountain lion

(Great photo with story)

Quote:
Zeus, an 11-year-old Maine coon cat, had a curious encounter with a young mountain lion.

The cats checked each other out — from opposite sides of a sliding glass door — about 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Pine Brook Hills area of Boulder. . .

"I've always thought that all those people on that one side with the short fences seemed to have zero privacy - safety issue never occurred to me, but I completely understand!"

The privacy issue occurred to me too - we're making our final move from Dallas at the end of the month, found a place close to open space and trailheads but not directly next to it.
