For a move to Melborne Beach real estate just told me a rental is 1500 to 1800 and goes in 10 minutes. He says you will get a "nicer home" in Melbourne/Palm bay. we havent sold our home here yet so dont know how much we can put down when we buy we havent lived in Brevard since the 90's so I think we should rent before buying. We have to move from PA because there is a special needs center that will help my adult child there it is near Orlando. the medical in PA is scant and drs have misdiagnosed every conditon she has even with traveling 4 hrs to a medical center. I welcome any thoughts also I have an another adult child who cant find employment here and he doesnt like 6 months of snow thanks!

I see one Indialantic apartment complex that offers a 3/2 starting at just under $1000 a month--but that's it beachside, according to Trulia.

I looked at The Brittany when I moved here. Its less then a mile to the ocean. If you consider being on the barrier island "ocean front" than you can find some decent deals for around 1000-1200 but it will be an older home most likely. If you want true beach front, like walk out to your back yard ocean, you would be lucky to find that for even 1500. Those are pretty costly and most likely will be a condo.

There are 13 three bedroom apts and condos between Indian Harbour and Cape Canaveral asking between $1150 and $1500 on the MLS right now. Several of those in Cape Canaveral are in newer buildings and one nice new listing today at Harbor Isles in Cocoa Beach for $1350. Two blocks from the beach and in a quiet area next to the Banana River.

You need a better realtor...As mentioned above, there a number of units but it depends on what you want or can afford. You will spend less in a building than in a house, if oceanfront. There are houses too, beach side and west of US 1 but the choices are slim as it is the middle of Snowbird season. You would be wise to check back in a few months, perhaps in May when things should improve inventory wise.
Feel free to DM me for a great rental agent and realtor.
