The point of the rationalist mindset is not that it refused to even consider anything out of the textbooks, but it eeps itself detached.

The problem with the Buy into Faith mindset is that it accepts unvalidated claims as true, on the rather vague supposition that the only way to deal with some unvalidated claim is to believe it utterly.

The problem there is as Qualiasoup's you tube on open -mindedness says, you have then closed your mind and, if evidence comes along that upsets your belief, then you will simply reject it.

It is better to keep your feet on the ground even when your head in in the clouds. That way you can consider the most upsetting ideas like the whole universe being a 2D hologram projected from outside. It is sad when you reject it as ridiculous when you really mean frightening.

But it isn't frightening at all. How can reality been frightening? If we are all a moment's imagination in the imaginings of a large invisible insect name Gorn, it doesn't seem to be causing me any upset. So, why get upset at the idea.

So the boggling complexities and order of the Mandelbrot set along with the Fibonaccci series and the Golden mean can just be taken on board as interesting events - I like that - nothing is solid substance, but an event occurring - and it has no effect on our daily routine and is nothing to worry about.

With this rationalist view we can in fact consider more stuff than if we are gullible. It is the holding back from buying into believing this claim or that claim that seems to upset so many people. I wonder why?

Just want to say that the OP pointed out the TAOIST first precept of meditation. Imagine the symbol of black and white with two axis holes. now spin the wheel of black and white and you get color. After this you will see Confucianism and the temple of 3 gates three terraces. From this you will learn The 8 trigrams. This is the book of changes. It is not a tarrot to be read. It is a mathematical code. Casting lots is foolish and a waste of time. Numbers and circles are for those that wish to know how the earth is grown..3 books to the East. 3 to the South. ect. Eventually you will realize you are chasing your own tail. The Oroboros of myth. Hindu snake from creation. The string of the bow that sung the song.
