We used to live in WNY (I lived in Lockport, she lived in Elmwood), but moved to NYC to have the experience.
Now we are kind of looking to settle down since we have a daughter. The rents are great, the houses are affordable. I'm only looking in the Elmwood area because after having a taste of the city life, I feel like it's the only area that can really entertain me. I hate driving to the fun, I want to be where the fun is.
Given that, how are the jobs in nursing doing. She worked and Women and Children's and has many friends but it seems like they got rid of Gates, they laid off people in the Kaleida system and the nursing jobs that I assumed would be safe are kind of moving out. Are there still decent jobs or is Kaleida still looking to move more jobs out of their system?
As a sidenote, I'm a banker and was curious what type of opportunites there are for banking? I know First Niagara seems to hold a lot of weight.
All medical jobs are plentiful & pay is very good. If you look hard enough you can likely find someone willing to pay for relocation & a sign on bonus (my wife got both to come here).
