That being said, the people in this city slammed the door shut on my open mind REAL quick. Within the first month of moving here, and I kid you not, I was egged by complete strangers just for walking down the street. My girlfriend cannot leave our house without being honked and screamed at, I've been chased to my door in broad daylight multiple times by residents of the numerous section 8 houses in our neighborhood, and sworn and spit at for no reason. Not a day goes by where I don't have to listen to obscenities being exchanged between drivers for whatever reason. On that note, the road rage here is awful as well. In five years of driving in Rochester, I was never in an accident; in nine months of living in Buffalo, I was hit three times by oblivious motorists. Most recently, earlier this week, I witnessed a customer at the Target in North Buffalo nearly assault a cashier simply because a product rang up differently at the register than advertised on the shelf. The racism here is also something I've only seen in movies, and read about in book pertaining to the South. Those are just a few highlights, as I have lost count of each instance of disrespect my fiance and I have experienced; at this point, we are both pretty desensitized, and used to being treated like crap. Sad part is, we were told be the few people we knew who were familiar with Buffalo, that our neighborhood is the "nicest part." I'm currently working on my Master's degree at Canisius College, and we have both agreed that we are leaving asap!
i hear ya..I drove to my old neighborhood where I grew up and the same thing happened..a car pulled up and they started screaming at me for no reason..I was on the westside on Lafayette...then I tried finding a parking space on Elmwood later and got blown off the road by irate nascar drivers hurrying to get their designer coffee at Spot...but they are nice to you at Wegman's!

this is what happened, buffalo started a rapid expansion into all of its surrounding suburbs, so basically the farther you go downtown the worse it gets, and now places that were straight country are turning into the most highly trafficed areas. Im in amherst and were now the biggest suburb in nys, insane numbers of business parks have taken over any and all forest land in amherst now its already moving out to clarence building houses and business parks everywhere, its almost like the city is becoming abandoned (take a look south while driving on the 190 looks like industrail ruins as far as the eye can see, for real!). when i was growing up, there was hardly any traffic on main street in williamsville, now, I cant even go attempt to drive down it, cars piled up as far as the eye can see lol. and main street in buffalo HA barly any traffic at all most of the day. As for the people, majority are really nice, but like i said farther you go downtown the worse it gets crack heads wandering the city lota breakins if you live in the wrong neighborhood, just the other day i was leaving work downtown and some punks driving their daddys bonneville on 24 in rims tryed cutting me off while i was turning right, they tryed to pass me in a lane that doesnt even exist, pathetic, but i didnt even see them and made the turn anyways, so i then here them beeping in extreme ignorance lol, land im thinkin you just made an illegal move and your tryin blame me sooo stupid, so im feeling sry for them cause they dont know any better obviously, and now im about three exits from downtown on the 33 and guess whos passin me in the right lane these idiots and then a kid open the passenger door throws a old apple in a bag at my window and takes off like a bat outta hell running from me going 100 mph weaving through traffic to get away from me, I just laughed histarically and kept going. Id say if your moving there, get a place in any of the suburbs the people are very friendly , as for downtown id compare it to niagara falls american side, well lemme take that back niagara falls american side is really pathetic they dont have any businesses besides the casino surrounded by a giant ghetto, at least downtown buffalo has some decent businesses and the people are a little friendlier than niagara falls but thats not saying much, i own a delivery service and now wont send anyone to do business in niagara falls cause the people are real scumbags always a problem up there, Ive come to the conclusion that theres something in the niagara falls drinking water that is making them crazy lol, but deliverys in buffalo are always straight, so buffalo isnt that bad but the problem i have with buffalo is that their largest industry is in the Collections Industry, now if this isnt a bad sign i dont know what is, theres barley any legit jobs in buffalo as it is, now their boasting in the buffalo jobfinder that collections are the biggest industry in buffalo lol, thats embarassing collections agencys are the lowest, immoral places to work in the country, their usually drug addicts harassing good people for some money that some other company screwed people on and were too afraid to collect themselves because they know its BS money.

Your experiences are similar to mine. In general, I have found Buffalonians to be an antagonistic bunch, even by American standards. I'm glad it's not just me.

Whether it's the burbs or the city, the entitlement attitude is what made living there so unenjoyable. The Mexicans in AZ are quiet when out on the town and don't scream in lines like "Eastsiders" and "Westsiders" do in Buffalo area. Those on food stamps seem embarrassed and try to swipe their cards as discretely as possible without drawing attention to others in line behind them. Yet, in Buffalo you see the welfare trash in Wegmans showing off their stamp cards like it's an Amex card cackling about their freebies while having the newest cellphones and jewelry. When you see where your tax dollars were going towards in WNY, made me want to puke !

Turn on Tru TV and watch Hardcore Pawn based out of Detroit some Tuesday Evening. The behavior of the customers on that show is just like many Buffalonians whether it be at a store in the mall or a line at Wegmans by white trash, Eastsiders and Westsiders. I used to shop at the Wegmans near Boulevard Mall in Amherst and it got way worse as the 2000's progressed. Eastsiders coming up Bailey and holding up lines with $500 stamp cards and 3 full shopping cards of unhealthy frozen food paid by the NY State Taxpayers.

They just built a new Wal-Mart on Sheridan Drive, not too far away from that Wegman's on Alberta Drive. You can imagine the kind of riff-raff that whole area attracts nowadays. From Wal-Mart... to Red Lobster... to Old Country Buffet, it's becoming a heaven for the welfare mamas and their illigitimate thugspawn. Same can be said about summer festivals in the city. The 4th of July celebration at Riverside Park was disrupted by hoodlums from all over the city. It was a complete chimpout, with mayhem breaking out during and after the fireworks. The Italian Festival is next. To be fair, it's not just them. Just go to any Bills game or Darien Lake concert and you will see the biggest concentration of white trash this side of the Mason-Dixon line. Drinking, fighting, cussing, screwing, you name it. Nothing's off limits with those losers!

When your sports teams have never won a Super Bowl or Stanley Cup, an inferiority complex sets in. Buffalo fans are bitter and jealous that they've never had a parade downtown to celebrate the 2 aforementioned championships in NFL and NHL.

Buffalo Fans were worse than Philly fans for obnoxiousness having been to both Rich Stadium and The Vet over the years being a fan of my 4 time Super Bowl Champion Giants. Had some humdingers with Bills fans in the 90's and have heard it's gotten worse in recent years. The fans have gotten younger and more obnoxious. I can see why. They haven't made the playoffs since 1999 and most of the young punks aren't old enough to remember them being relevant in the 80's and 90's.

If that's the case, then they need to become more like Seattle's fans who don't have such an inferiority complex when it comes to sports championships (or lack of thereof). Probably because they live in a thriving city with more economic opportunities and a better quality of life than Buffalo.

Seattle did win a championship and I saw it as a young kid. Downtown Freddie Brown and Jack Sikma were the stars of the 1979 NBA champs. The same time when Buffalo had a basketball team that had Can Do Bob McAdoo who eventually won a title with with Lakers in the 80's. The Braves moved to San Diego due to the economy not supporting an NBA team.

San Diego is in the same boat as Buffalo but the fans live in paradise and don't care. Raider fans outnumber Charger fans at The Q. Pretty embarrassing. I've been to the new Petco Park in SD .Great park but the fans are very lethargic.
