Haha I wish it was that easy! I'd be lucky just to get a study permit and attend college up there! I know a little bit about Canadian immigration and it's not really an option right now. I need to finish college first and get a real profession before I can even be considered. Rochester doesn't have H&M or Urban Outfitters, that's why I think the shopping could be better haha. I actually used to go to Brighton during my first two years of high shcool and absolutely hated it. Luckily we moved to East Irondequoit and I graduated there. I would much rather have my son go to a school like East Iron. No I'm not paranoid, this happened near Meigs at my husband's old address before we got married. The other thing happened while driving in Henrietta. I'm 19 and hate the media. I don't watch the news here, the only news I follow to some degree is CBC. No need to defend Rochester, maybe it's just not for everybody (: I just want to know more about Buffalo suburbs and Niagara Falls area.
Driving in Henrietta? Anyway, Walden Galleria has both of those stores that you like.
Niagara Falls High isn't too bad in terms of a truly urban HS. While it has had grad rates around the state percentage in recent years, it had slipped for a couple of years. However, the grad rate improved from 64% in 2014 to 70% in 2015. https://data.nysed.gov/gradrate.php?...d=800000041633
Due to environmental/industrial reasons, I'd steer clear of the Love Canal area east of LaSalle and be careful of the area east of Hyde Park Boulevard/south of Hyde Park and west of the highway around the Goodyear plant. Here is an article about the latter, with one about love canal at the bottom: Chemical exposure at Goodyear

I think that is true of many American cities, and certainly Rochester as well. Nobody with kids will touch the city because of the schools. One of my relatives works in a school on the East Side, and she says the conditions there are beyond deplorable. Kids roaming the hallways, cursing out teachers, and full blown fist fights routinely. IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. The charter schools and private schools are better, but bottom line suburban schools are overall superior (with the exception of City Honors), and I see it staying that way.
Charter schools are actually about the same as public and private schools contain better behaved students. Suburban schools aren't necessarily better (depends which suburb). Certainly the wealthier the district the "better" the school but then that makes what is actually being measured a bit suspect...
FWIW, there are quite a few middle-class families that live in Buffalo, with kids.

I do see your point; some suburbs like Cheektowaga have schools that are nothing to brag about. As far as charter schools go, another relative of mine worked at Westminster charter school and hated it; he is much happier in a suburban district.
However, where do middle class families live in Buffalo? I know South Buffalo by Cazenovia Park has many families, but I'm not sure if they can be qualified as middle class.
There are many middle class families in North Buffalo an increasing number in Allentown Columbus Park area, of course there are upper class families in the Bidwell Pk area and I'd characterize some parts of Norwood/Ashland as middle class and there are an increasing number of middle class families on the middle west side.
The Buffalo News posted a map that shows where the gun crimes have occurred in the city this year. This should give a good idea of what areas to avoid.

Doesn't Hamlin Park still have its share of middle class residents? I believe that there is a portion of the Kensinton Heights area next to the Cleveland Hill area of Cheektowaga that is middle class as well. As I mentioned in another thread, those areas seem to be where you find highly Black neighborhoods that are middle class or have middle class residents. For instance, this is the area of Kensington Heights I'm referring to: Census Block Group 004300-4 in Erie County, New York
Also, what about Parkside, Central Park(west of Main), much of the Vernon Triangle and North Park? All are west of Main, south of Hertel, east of Delaware and north of Delaware Park.

Any way to get that to include Buffalo and surrounding areas?
That particular map is confined to the city of Buffalo. Your best bet for Buffalo's suburbs is this site: https://www.spotcrime.com/ny/
There are maps for North Tonawanda, Amherst, Cheektowaga and Buffalo here.
