What type of identification does someone under 18 need to cross the peace bridge? I understand that there are different rules via land and air. I'm looking via land this time. It's been a while since I've been to WNY.

Thanks,
XNY

Just your original birth certificate and some sort of picture id, like a driver's license. If you dont have a driver's license, then just worry about the original birth certificates.

Hope this helps

Are you the kid's parent? If not, you ought to have a letter from both parents stating you can take the kid across. I know on passports, both parents need to sign for a kid 16 or younger. (to stop abduction, etc)

With school groups we used to take (haven't done it since 1995), you needed the original birth certificate. We did have school photo IDs, so those were used with the birth certificates.

Yes, it's my kid. However, I live in NC now and I haven't been to WNY in about 2 years, 5 for peace bridge travel. I just want to make sure I cover my bases. I have all My adult Id, it's just the child doesn't have anything, because the child is little.

Anyways, thanks for the info. I don't want to forget anything once the plane leaves NC there's no going back to get stuff.

I would check the US.gov website on crossing the border w/little kids. Someone posted on here that they couldn't get their kid a passport as the other parent wouldn't sign.

Our kids are late 20s/early 30s so it isn't an issue. last time my one dau. went to Toronto, they only asked for the birth cert -- and she was driving and her name ( she is married) is different. They go by DOB. My other dau. takes her passport

Thanks again.

I have a passport, license, and birth certificate. However, my child is elementary school age so we only have a birth certifice. She dosen't need a passport.
We were turned away from customers in 2003 when we came to visit. I realize that now we have Homeland Security laws which kinda hurt the people who are legit.
