Yawns.

WikiLeaks=Political TMZ

Quote:
[LEFT]Does he mean to say that Facebook is run by US Intelligence?No!

What Julian's trying to say here is that the US government is strong enough to apply legal and political pressure on Facebook to give them a user's private information.

I dont disagree with Assange's premise, but he and his organization come off as so sanctimonious and holier-than-thou, when they are basically a gossip column for traitors.

I agree totally. This guy acts like he is doing Gods work.
Theres a place for keeping people honest, but they regularly cross the line and even put people in harms way.

I am curious what he sees as an alternative. Facebook based in Caymans or Bermuda a la on-line poker sites? Would he prefer Google lagging behind Baidu and Yandex? Is there a particular government other than US he'd rather have access to the data?
I'm not saying that current situation is great, just that most alternatives look no better.

Funny how everyone focuses on Assange and not so much the people who provided him all of his data. Assange is just a guy who runs a website, and that's all.

Besides, it's not like a lot of these cables are earth-shattering content to begin with. Oil as the basis for the Iraq War, really guys? No ****. This latest thing on Facebook is creeping into Looneyville. OH NOES, we're being tracked by the gub'mint on Facebook! And also by Google, your ISP, marketers, corporations, and websites (notice the FB link for city-data?) of all shapes and sizes, if you don't like it, don't use FB.
