What is your favorite one?

National Forests in California

There's a few forests by where I live. Cleveland, Angeles, and San Bernardino. Those forests are alright but could get pretty crowded and there's alot of chaparral vegetation which causes alot of forest fires. I think the forests in Northern California are really pretty like Shasta NF. I drove through that one on my way to Oregon before.

I don't know what "national" means but i love the redwood forest(s) of Nisene Marks State Park in Santa Cruz county (Aptos ... although i can walk from a particular place in Soquel [Land of Medicine Buddha] all the way to the entrance in Aptos).
There are miles and miles of hiking trails and there are many opportunities to venture off of them as well.
The tremendous variations of growth and light and energy throughout is really wonderful .... it's always different and always changing too.

One that you don't have listed: Humbolt-Toiyabe, specifically the Sweetwater Mountains area.

You might want to do some research, 26 million acres of National Forest in CA, 6 million designated wilderness. All for your recreation.

Bulldogdad, The HT is a fine forest, little visited

I would find it hard to pick a favorite. I like them all and have worked in 4 of them.

I love it all but spend most of my time in the Sierra range, camping, hunting and fishing, so many places to explore. Life can be so much fun if you live it.

This is a really good National Geographic documentary about the coastal redwoods of California.
It documents a redwood climber / scientist as well as a couple that treks (for almost a year) the length of the redwood range starting in Big Sur and ending just north of the Oregon border.

Sure, but, this is a thread on National Forests, the only redwoods in a National Forest are in the north end of the Los Padres
