High-Speed Rail Project In California Under Scrutiny | Fox News

Quote:
Since the project was first unveiled in 2008, officials tripled its projected cost, delayed its start of service 13 years, downsized ridership projections and increased ticket prices. Almost two-thirds of Californians now say they'd vote against issuing bonds to pay for a project they narrowly approved just three years ago.
From $33 billion to $98 billion in just three years. I stand in awe of the California leadership's ability to do maff and count and stuff.

Hopefully we can still have it killed off before any additional significant investment takes place.

I admire the states, like Florida, that returned high speed rail money to the federal government.

It’s not so much about the train as it is about stimulating the pockets of lawyers in “hopes” we "might" get a train.

This project was doomed from the start.

The original HSRA projections were even lower than $33 billion. Can't help but wonder how much of this estimate was wishful thinking and how much was fraud.

They certainly mislead a lot of people who thought the total cost was just $9 billion when they were voting for it.

Bait and switch. Sucker the mark in with a low-ball offer then shock and awe them with a huge increase when the deal is past the point of no return.
Hopefully, cooler heads that can do maff (love that word by the way) will see the error of their ways and put the project down.

I took high-speed rail in China. So I think it would be great if there were a high-speed rail train in California.
