Yup, another study on the dismal situation facing our once-golden state.

Illegals and poor coming in.

Businesses and entrepreneurs going out.

Here are the usual responses from the head-in-the-sand crowd:

1. Make funny. Post silly photos.

2. Say it's a good trend - more space for those who stay.

3. Bid good riddance. Who needs these selfish people who don't appreciate California.

4. Post that we are still the greatest, largest economy in the west. And always will be no matter how bad things get.

5. Blame it on the national economy. How can CA do well when the US economy is suffering?

6. It's the fault of those Republicans in Sacramento. If they would just agree to new taxes all would be well.

7. Moonbeam will fix it. Just need more time - and money.

8. If you don't like it get out.

To have a serious discussion about this topic, you'd need to point out the policy and/or economic change that led to a change in perceived direction in California.

For example, to point out illegal aliens or tax rates may be well and good, but did they significantly change at some point to turn growth into depletion? If tax rates are the same as historical levels, why is it now a problem? Likewise with illegal aliens, did they really just start to show up in major numbers the past 5-6 years?

Don't bother guys.

Newgeography.com is just subjective opinionated rhetoric. They try disguise their subjective opinions as professional academic discussion, when it is anything but.

Yeah, pretty much. Sounds like valid arguments to me.

In fact I'm thinking of printing this out and posting it on my fridge with a magnet. Thanks for putting the list together.

I see a great opportunity here, isn't there a app for that?

Hilarious.

Exports are a major bright spot in California's economy--booming actually.

Not much thought put into this article. People and Jobs? Yeah right. Jobs are actually on the upswing and the number of people leaving has slowed down considerably.

All this fearmongering but things are actually improving? I dont get it.

You forgot, at least one more refutation: illegal population has been dropping steadily since the recession hit.

Right: the article pretty much sucked. Just a 'page-maker', which is a function to create advertising space.
