I moved to Palm Desert a month ago and I drink a lot of bottled water and on the weekends I drink bottled beer.I have noticed that you can recycle the bottles for cash. I am from Ohio and we dont have the option to recycle our bottles for money. My question is, where do I need to go and recycle these items for a cash refund?

Thanks
Buckeyes

I would call the City of Palm Desert and ask for information on their recycling program. Here in Long Beach we have purple bins that the City picks up. If you're looking to get cash, check the phone book for re=cycling centers. I don't believe they pay for glass, but they will take glass. Same thing with paper. Aluminum they will pay for.

You can usually recycle for cash behind grocery stores. They'll pay for anything with a CRV logo because you paid a deposit when you bought it.

Some grocery stores have an arrangement where you get store credit in return for your recycled bottles and cans.

My lives in OC and you are correct. Several years ago there was one at my local Ralphs and they would givie you a coupon - you could redeem it for cash at Ralphs or apply it to your groceries.

Unfortunately, the recycle center didn't renew the lease, and I've yet found one in my local area.
